Sharon McNight is cabaret at its best

Songs to Offend
Almost Everyone
July 14
Julia's on Broadway

She's crass, she's funny, and boy, can she sing - cabaret legend Sharon McNight is cabaret at its absolute best!

On July 14, Sharon presented her critically acclaimed show Songs to Offend Almost Everyone at Julia's on Broadway to a very welcoming audience of friends and fans. I'd heard that if you were going to see just one cabaret act this year, Sharon should be it, so a group of friends and I discretely sat at a corner table, not really knowing what to expect, but based on her accolades from other cabaret performers, anticipating the best.

From the moment that Sharon walked out on stage, I knew we were in for something different; I've rarely seen a performer so comfortable, so completely at home on stage. Songs to Offend Almost Everyone doesn't hold back. Sharon is foul-mouthed from beginning to end. However, the show never veers from funny into bad taste. You see, Sharon can really sing, and she is laugh-out-loud funny. Her ability to tell a dirty joke - or any joke, for that matter - is a gift. Her voice is as finely tuned as any cabaret act I've ever seen. Sharon pokes fun - without being mean or rude - at the audience, herself, and anyone in between.

Once Sharon is onstage, she's there to stay. Accompanied by a single pianist, the show is stripped-down and simple in a way that is refreshing. With Sharon, what you see is what you get. Void of pretension and overflowing with talent, Sharon is as authentic as the day is long.

Sharon McNight has appeared everywhere you could imagine. Julia's on Broadway, known for providing a stage for Seattle cabaret superstar Arnaldo! Drag Chanteuse, booked Sharon for a two-show engagement. The shows were such a hit with the audience she's been invited back this November!

"I had a great time at Julia's. The management and staff were kind and attentive and I look forward to returning in the fall," Sharon told SGN. "Seattle may be one of the friendliest cities I have ever played in - and believe me, I've worked all over in clubs, theaters, and gin joints from Carnegie Hall to Broadway. What a great ride I'm having!"

If you are a fan of comedy, cabaret, or just having a good time, then you won't want to miss Sharon when she returns to Seattle. Until then, for more information about the award-winning cabaret legend visit her website at www.sharonmcnight.com.
